Briefly describe the area of the field in which you plan to specialize in the United States. e-Planning, is my field of specialization, that I helped to create at MIT-Dept. of Urban Studies and Planning, in 2003. Its focus is the in-depth study of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and its impact in all areas of planning, in particular urban planning. It is transdisplinary, with bodies of knowledge from engineering to appllied social sciences. At MIT-DUSP, e-Planning was designated Urban Information Systems, while in Portugal e-Planning designation was certified as a multi-displinary scientific area since 2008, with a PhD Program offered jointly by University of Lisbon, Technical University of Lisbon, New University of Lisbon and University of Aveiro, with a 3-limit of registered scientific supporting domains: engineering; planning for sustainable development, and political science with focus on governance. e-Planning remains close to MIT's Urban Information Systems, since e-Planning PhD is offered at the Faculdade de Arquitectura of University of Lisbon, with the Dept. of Urban Project and the Dept, of Social Sciences and Land Use Planning (FA-UL). Hence, the closest option available here is Urban Planning.
