RENATO SIMÕES - National Secretary for Social Participation of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic of Brazil (SNPS/SG/PR/BR). Philosopher, graduated from PUC de Campinas, and postgraduate degree in Human Rights from the Faculty of Law at USP. State deputy for the PT in São Paulo, from 1995 to 2007. He chaired the Human Rights Commission of the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo for ten years. In 2013 and 2014, he was a federal deputy for PT-SP. During Dilma Rousseff's government, he was Special Advisor for Social Participation at the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic and at the Government Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic. He is responsible for creating and articulating institutes for consultation and social participation, with emphasis on the digital platform “Brasil Participativo” and for developing research on the topic. In addition to the implementation and coordination of the Intercouncil Forum and the integration between national councils, ombudsman offices and conferences.
